Client Background

The Arctic Eider Society, a registered Canadian charity based in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, works with communities across Hudson Bay and Inuit Nunangat.

The Arctic Eider Society’s interdisciplinary programs now include many different aspects of sea ice ecosystems, but it all started with a community-driven research project filming eider ducks diving under the Arctic sea ice in winter.

From Design to Delivery

SIKU is a mobile app and web platform by and for Inuit which provides tools and services for ice safety, language preservation and weather.

As the only social media platform putting Indigenous rights first, SIKU is a safe space for sharing and mobilizing Indigenous knowledge.

Many Hats has worked extensively with the internal team at SIKU on the development of the geocoding and mapping features, providing local inhabitants with crucial live updates on their geological surroundings.
